Iran director wins award at US filmfest

Iran director Farnoush Samadi has succeeded to win Best Director Award from the 6th edition of Middle Coast Film Festival in the US.

The director received the award from the American film event for her short film ‘Gaze’.

'Gaze' has so far attended a number of internationally famous film festivals including the 70th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland.

The 8th Cortisonici International Film Festival in Italy, the 22nd Regard International Short Film Festival in Canada, the 47th New Directors/New Films Festival at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the 2018 Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films in the US are also among the global experiences of ‘Gaze’.

Farnoush Samadi, the director has collaborated with Ali Asgari to write the script for the film. Both writers have also been selected by the Academy Award to become members.

The short flick is about a woman who witnesses something happening on a bus while commuting home from work. She has to decide whether to reveal it or not.

The focus of Middle Coast Film Festival is to connect the filmmakers to a smart audience, who will for sure question what they just watched. Middle Coast’s goal is to provide an inclusive, uplifting, and affirming community to filmmakers and audience members.

The 2018 edition of the event was held on September 21-23, in Chicago, the US.
